Robyn McDade

Currently coaching our mixed age team, Starlight Storm and competing with our adult team, Starlight Rain, Robyn also competes with Aberdeen’s Senior team, Zariba.

Originally from South Bucks, Robyn learned to skate in Slough, she moved to Scotland in 2006 and thereafter trained at Murrayfield ice rink. An incredible all rounder, Robyn has competed internationally in Singles, Ice Dance and Synchro. She skated synchro initially with the Montem Marvelettes (Slough) competing in her first British Precision championships in 1997 at novice level. After the Slough teams folded Robyn joined the Lee Valley synchro teams winning one junior and two senior British titles and going on to compete as team Great Britain in the 2001 and 2002 synchro world championships.

Robyn joined Starlight in 2012 and has skated with Starlight Rain every season since. During this time the team have been British Adult Synchro Champions three times and Scottish Adult Synchro Champions six times.

Robyn also coaches private lessons in both Singles and Ice dance for Stirling New Figure Skating Club at the Peak in Stirling.

Robyn is a true technician, she has a forte for understanding and interpreting the complex rules of Synchro and is always on top of the current changes. She uses her sound knowledge of the skating footwork to create interesting and fast programmes.

“I have a real passion for synchro, I still love competing after over 20 years in the sport and I am now thoroughly enjoying coaching as well. I love the complexity of choreographing a synchro program and watching the team work together over the season.”
